EU Strengthens Air Passenger Rights with New Regulation: Enhanced Compensation and Comfort Requirements

The European Union Council has approved a new regulation to strengthen air passenger rights, introducing stricter rules on flight cancellations, delays, and comfort standards. Under the new framework, passengers will receive compensation of 250 euros for delays exceeding three hours on flights up to 1500 kilometers, 400 euros for longer intra-EU flights, and 600 euros for other routes. Airlines are also required to provide refreshments every two hours, meals after three hours, and accommodation when necessary for stranded travelers.
