US Fiscal Deficit Hits $432 Billion in July: 48% Increase Over Previous Year
ABD Hazine Bakanlığı'nın yayımladığı temmuz bütçe açığı raporu, federal hükümetin geçen yılın aynı dönemine kıyasla yüzde 48 artışla 432 milyar dolar

The U.S. Treasury Department's July fiscal deficit report revealed that the federal government recorded a 432 billion dollar deficit, a 48% increase compared to the same period last year. This surge was attributed to military payments and Medicare expenses being deferred to July due to scheduling conflicts. Market expectations had projected a deficit of 348.3 billion dollars. Government revenues declined by 1% year-over-year to 334 billion dollars, while expenditures surged by 22% to 766 billion dollars. For the first 10 months of the 2026 fiscal year, the total deficit reached 1.79 trillion dollars, up from 1.63 trillion dollars in the same period last year. This marks a significant deviation from the 1.77 trillion dollar deficit recorded in the entire 2025 fiscal year. Revenues increased by 3%, while expenditures rose by 5%, reaching 4.48 and 6.28 trillion dollars, respectively.
This sudden spike in the U.S. fiscal deficit signals the need for a reevaluation of fiscal policies for the coming years. It poses a risk factor for dividend-focused investments while also impacting corporate buyback programs.
