USS Abraham Lincoln's Mental Health Strain: Admiral Claims Cases Are 'Relatively Low'
ABD Donanması'nın en uzun deniz seferi olan USS Abraham Lincoln gemisinde, 260 günlük denizde geçiren 5.000'den fazla mürettebatın psikolojik ve fizik

The USS Abraham Lincoln, the U.S. Navy's longest-deployed ship, is facing growing concerns over the psychological and physical conditions of its 5,000+ crew members after more than 260 days at sea. Congress members and families have raised alarms about a mental health crisis onboard. Admiral Brad Cooper, Commander of U.S. Central Command, stated that the carrier has 'among the lowest number of mental health cases' compared to the Navy's other 11 aircraft carriers, though he acknowledged 'this doesn’t mean all is perfect.' The Lincoln has been in combat operations against Iran for its fifth month, with no announced return date. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has dismissed reports of poor conditions as 'fake news,' while Congress members highlight issues like 'moldy showers, broken toilets, weeks without laundry, long stretches without hot water, and meals reduced to half a cup of rice and two tortillas.' These conditions reflect the increasing challenges of extended deployments for the Navy. The transfer of the USS George Washington to replace the Lincoln remains uncertain. Could this situation negatively impact the U.S. Navy's operational capacity? Additionally, the psychological strain on the crew may have broader implications for defense budgets and naval personnel morale.
