Google has announced the shutdown of AI-powered workflow automation startup Relay. Relay’s founder and CEO Jacob Bank has joined Google’s Chrome team. Bank will lead AI integration efforts within Chrome. This move follows Google’s broader strategy to deeply embed AI tools into user experiences. Relay, launched in 2021 with the goal of becoming a Zapier alternative, will cease operations. Google’s AI integrations, including Gemini, have reached over 1 billion users.
The shift underscores Google’s ambition to make AI tools more accessible across its ecosystem, potentially reshaping productivity applications.
