U.S. Debt Crisis: Homebuyers Face $53,000 Hit, Retirees $700 Monthly Loss
ABD ulusal borcu 40 trilyon doları aşarak yeni bir finansal tehdit oluşturuyor. 2026 mali yılında hükûmet, borç faizlerinden 1 trilyon dolar ödeme yap

The U.S. national debt has surged past $40 trillion, creating a new financial threat. The government is projected to pay over $1 trillion in debt interest in fiscal year 2026. The Conference Board's report warns that continued borrowing at current rates could cost homebuyers an additional $53,000 in 2031 and over $100,000 in 2036. Michael Peterson of the Peterson Institute notes that the U.S.'s massive borrowing will drive up interest rates, increasing household expenses on mortgages, car loans, and inflation. Additionally, the Social Security and Medicare trust funds are expected to run dry in under eight and seven years, respectively, leading to potential monthly benefit cuts of $700 and additional tax burdens to fund deficit spending. The report highlights that neglecting the debt problem could push total homebuyer payments to over $3 million, with extreme scenarios reaching $3.6 million.
The U.S. debt crisis could evolve into a global liquidity crisis. Hedge funds anticipate reduced market participation as U.S. debt exceeds 90% of GDP. While the Federal Reserve's QE policies may not deflate debt value, they could exacerbate inflation risks.
