Turkey's Automotive Sector Rise: 13th Largest Production Hub in the World

Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat announced that Turkey has become the 13th largest production hub in the world in the automotive sector. This success is due to the country's economic growth and increasing exports over the past 23 years.

  • Last year's $41.5 billion export success made the automotive sector the first sector in terms of exports.

  • Growth of the Automotive Sector - The automotive sector has been the leader in exports for the last 19 years.

  • The sector accounted for more than 15% of Turkey's $273 billion exports last year.
  • Turkey is among the world leaders in the bus and light commercial vehicle segment.
  • In light commercial vehicle production, Turkey is 9th in the world and 1st in Europe as of 2025 production figures.
  • Increase in Exports - In the first 6 months of the year, exports increased by 3.6% to $136 billion, while imports increased by 4.6% to $189 billion.
