Turkey-Syria Trade Partnership: Transit Route Expansion to Gulf States

The trade volume between Turkey and Syria has reached $3.75 billion, with Trade Minister Ömer Bolat emphasizing the need to develop trade routes between the two countries. The Nusaybin-Kamışlı Customs Gate is targeted to open by year-end. TOBB Chairman Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu highlighted the establishment of a model for using organized industrial zones in Syria. The Head of the Syrian Border Gates and Customs Administration, Kuteybe Ahmed Bedevi, stressed the strategic benefits of the Free Zone Project in Idlib and the Sarakib Dry Port and Industrial Zone. The expansion of transit trade between Turkey and Syria to Gulf states is seen as a solution to logistical challenges caused by frequent closures of the Hormuz Strait, particularly in energy and petrochemical product supply chains.

The development of the Turkey-Syria trade corridor is expected to reduce logistical issues in the region, strengthening Turkey's trade strategy in the Middle East. This initiative will enhance the efficiency of supply chains for Gulf states, supporting the broader economic integration of the region.
