Unemployment Rate Hits Lowest Level Since 2005: Outcomes of Turkey's Labor Force Policies

Turkey's unemployment rate fell to 7.6% in June, marking the lowest level since 2005 and continuing a streak of single-digit rates for 38 months. Minister Vedat Işıkhan reported that employment increased by 227,000 to 32.7 million, while the labor force grew by 58,000 to 35.4 million. Unemployment among youth dropped to 12.8%, and women reached 9.8%, the lowest since 2012. The government's Youth Employment Initiative-GÜÇ project, under President Erdoğan's leadership, continues to show positive results. The labor force participation rate rose to 52.9%. These developments are seen as a significant step in supporting Turkey's economic stability. How Will Markets React? The decline in unemployment suggests growing strength in the labor market, which may encourage investors. Companies expect economic growth to benefit from increased employment. However, this could also trigger risks like rising interest rates. Experts believe the rise in labor force could boost long-term economic growth.
