Following the August 10 and October 27, 2025 earthquakes in Balıkesir, AFAD reported that 1,716 independent units suffered moderate or severe damage. Among the 1,076 property owners, 969 were identified as housing units, 56 as business premises, and 46 as barns. In Sındırgı district, a lottery draw will be held at AFAD Headquarters at 14:00 tomorrow, covering 305 homes and 1 business. Additionally, 490 living containers, 54 business containers, and 2 prefabricated mosques were constructed in the region. AFAD allocated 155.582 million 209 Turkish Lira for relief efforts.
AFAD's initiative to rapidly provide permanent solutions in Turkey's earthquake zones could set a new benchmark for social responsibility projects. Long-term strategies for more resilient urban planning may emerge from this disaster response.
