Bending Spoons Beats Quarterly Earnings, Guidance Concerns Drag Stock

Bending Spoons delivered a surprisingly strong second-quarter performance after its IPO, yet guidance shortfalls pulled the stock lower.
Off‑Balance Growth: Quarter Results
The company posted $704 million in revenue, a 126% YoY increase that beat Wall Street expectations of $685 million. Adjusted EPS came in at $0.46, outpacing the consensus $0.27 by more than 70%. Operating income reached $240 million (up 139%) and adjusted operating income hit $381 million (up 150%).
Guidance Shadow: Investor Reaction
Despite the robust quarter, the stock fell 6.9% in pre‑market trading. The market focus shifted to the full‑year 2026 revenue outlook of $2.78‑$2.82 billion, which trails the Wall Street average of $2.895 billion. Organic growth was a modest 3%, indicating that the bulk of the 126% headline growth stems from recent acquisitions.
Acquisition Engine: Strategic Expansion
Since early 2023, Bending Spoons has spent roughly €6 billion on 15 acquisitions, tripling revenue, operating income and adjusted operating income by 2025. The balance sheet shows $793 million in cash and a borrowing capacity of $1.28 billion, but interest expense surged 205% YoY to €109 million, highlighting rising debt costs.
Numeric Snapshot
Defne Aydın: The aggressive acquisition push delivers headline‑grabbing growth but masks a thin organic base and mounting financing costs. With the ECB’s policy rates staying elevated, debt‑financed expansion becomes increasingly vulnerable, urging investors to weigh the sustainability of Bending Spoons’ growth model.
