Analyst Bernstein has urged AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile to reassess their pricing strategies to compete with SpaceX's Starlink satellites. Starlink's low-cost internet services are threatening the margins of traditional telecom operators. Bernstein recommends these companies adopt a more aggressive strategy against Starlink. AT&T's CEO John Stankey acknowledged that Starlink could fundamentally change the sector in the long run, but said the company will continue price reductions to counter the short-term threat. Verizon's CEO Hans Vestberg argued Starlink is only a temporary challenge. Bernstein suggested these firms implement at least a 15% price cut to match Starlink's technological and cost advantages.
Starlink's low-cost satellite internet could significantly undermine telecom operators' long-term profitability. This reality is prompting AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile to undergo strategic reassessments.
