Ceyhan Mayor Kadir Aydar announced his resignation from the CHP and joining a new political movement led by Özgür Özel. Aydar defined politics as standing behind values rather than positions, emphasizing that Atatürk's ideas cannot be monopolized by any political party. 'Badges can change, buildings can change, party names can change, but loyalty to Atatürk does not change' he said. Aydar, who joined the CHP at 18 and served as one of its oldest members, noted that he was elected Mayor of Ceyhan with record votes in the 2019-2024 period. 'I will continue the struggle in the new party' he declared. Aydar stated that he made the decision because he believes Turkey needs a new political vision.
Aydar emphasized that his resignation does not mean abandoning Republican values, stating that loyalty should be to principles rather than names. This political shift may signal a new era in Turkey's political landscape.
