CHP's Nazilli Devir Teslim Crisis: Early Signs of Internal Party War?
724FinanceHakan Çelik

The power struggle in CHP's Nazilli branch office over the transfer of duties has raised concerns about democratic processes within the party. Former branch head Sema Aslıhan Ökmen's team refused to let new head Naim Atmaca enter the building. Ökmen, on social media, accused the new leadership of attempting to 'forcefully take our will', while Atmaca stated the incident would be reported to higher party management. Such internal conflicts, following CHP's 2023 general election, are testing the party's organizational resilience. As Hakan Çelik, Director of Fiscal Policies and Public Financing, I highlight that these organizational crises can negatively impact party law and electoral performance in the long run.
Internal party conflicts, if left unchecked, can lead to the dilution of political power. This situation may adversely affect CHP's strategic goals ahead of 2028.
