Coldcard Enhances Security Measures Following $130 Million Bitcoin Heist
Coinkite, Coldcard donanım cüzdanlarının Bitcoin hırsızlıklarına maruz kalmasının ardından cihazlara yeni güvenlik önlemleri ekledi. 2021'den beri var

Coinkite has implemented new security protocols for its Coldcard hardware wallets after a firmware flaw led to the theft of 1,778 BTC ($130 million) across 4,585 addresses. The flaw, present since 2021, allowed attackers to exploit insufficient randomness in seed generation. Coinkite rolled out firmware updates 5.6.1 and 1.5.1Q, mandating users add extra entropy when creating wallet seeds. Additional measures include restricting USB data access, hardening Delta Mode, and modifying wallet backup procedures. The incident underscores the critical role of entropy in hardware wallet security. Coinkite is continuing its investigation and assisting affected customers in migrating to new wallets.
This breach serves as a stark reminder of the vulnerabilities in hardware wallets. Coinkite's updates may enhance resilience against future attacks.
