Digital Euro App: Highest Accessibility Standards for Universal Inclusion

The European Central Bank (ECB) has outlined the accessibility features of the digital euro app, emphasizing equal access and inclusion in digital payments. The app will feature advanced accessibility tools: screen reader support for visually impaired users, reduced motion settings, full keyboard navigation, and timeout warnings. ECB Executive Board member Piero Cipollone stressed that the digital euro will be a public good accessible to all. The app is set for testing during the 2027 digital euro pilot. The ECB is collaborating with the ONCE Foundation and 19 national central banks to enhance user experience.

The digital euro's accessibility standards reinforce the EU's commitment to digital equity, marking a significant step in the future of digital payments.
