Disney Abu Dhabi Project: The New Dimensions of Cultural Integration

Disney Imagineers visited historic UAE landmarks, including the 4,000-year-old Al Ain Oasis and Qasr Al Watan, to ensure Abu Dhabi's new themed park is 'authentically Disney and distinctly Emirati.' A video at the D23 event documented their research in Al Ain Oasis and Qasr Al Watan. The project focuses on subtle, culturally resonant details: dhow boats, date farming, and falaj irrigation systems. Unlike other Abu Dhabi parks, this one will feature outdoor elements, as shown in new concept art. Thomas Mazloum of Disney announced the project as an 'entirely new theme park resort.' No opening date has been set, but it's expected to be after 2030.
