National Cohesion Law: Turkey's New Legal Framework for Justice Reform
Türkiye'de 18 Ağustos 2026'da yürürlüğe giren Milli Dayanışma ve Toplumsal Bütünleşmenin Güçlendirilmesine Dair Kanun, PKK/KCK terör örgütüne yönelik

Turkey's National Cohesion and Social Integration Enhancement Law, which came into force on August 18, 2026, introduces a new legal framework for addressing PKK/KCK terrorism. The law suspends investigations and prosecutions for certain crimes linked to PKK/KCK, extending the duration of investigations by 5 years for standard offenses and 10 years for serious crimes, contingent upon the organization's official dismantling and weapon surrender being confirmed in the Official Gazette. President Erdoğan highlighted the law as a 'significant step' for Turkey's secure future, praising the contributions of political parties and institutions. The law establishes a Council under the Vice Presidency to oversee the implementation of judicial processes. This reform aims to ensure the sustainability of fair justice in the fight against terrorism, marking a new phase in Turkey's counter-terrorism efforts while maintaining economic and social stability.
