Index Ventures, the 30-year-old venture capital firm, is continuing to stand out with its strong investment strategy in AI and technology. The firm has recently raised over $2 billion in new capital, allocated across three funds: $400 million for a new seed fund, $900 million for a venture fund, and $700 million to a $1.5 billion growth fund launched in 2024, bringing total available capital to $3.5 billion. This investment follows Index's $2.3 billion raise across two funds in 2022. Index is gaining attention for its investment performance, particularly after Wiz's $32 billion sale to Alphabet, which Index first invested in at the seed stage and became the largest outside shareholder with a 12% stake. Figma's IPO is another success story for Index. Other AI-focused investments include robotics firm Physical Intelligence, inference platform Fireworks AI, and Anthropic. These strategic investments position Index as a key player in the global startup ecosystem.
The investment wave reflects the supply shock in the AI and technology sector. Index's strategic bets could play a crucial role in shaping the future of the sector.
