  • The HKMA is accelerating real-world asset (RWA) tokenization and blockchain settlement through Project Ensemble, backed by e-HKD, tokenized deposits, and regulated stablecoins.
  • In the DeFi and Web3 ecosystem, the integrity of smart contracts and DLT architectures relies entirely on traditional cryptographic standards like ECDSA. The realization of scalable quantum computers running Shor's Algorithm would compromise not just L1/L2 bridges, but the entire consensus and wallet signature infrastructure. HKMA’s proactive QPI rollout and HSBC’s post-quantum cryptography (PQC) pilots signal that Web3 must rebuild its security layer at the hardware and protocol levels. Transitioning EVM-compatible networks to PQC libraries will soon become a critical necessity for preserving TVL.
