ICE's $125 Million Thomson Reuters Deal Exposes Credit Card Data Without Warrant

The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has gained access to personal data collected by credit card companies through Thomson Reuters' CLEAR platform. The investigation by 404 Media reveals that sensitive information—including names, SSNs, phone numbers, addresses, and email addresses—is shared with credit bureaus and then transmitted to Thomson Reuters. CLEAR allows ICE to search this data without a warrant. Additionally, ICE reportedly uses this data to determine which neighborhoods to raid. Sen. Ron Wyden warned that 'no one signing up for a credit card thinks their data is being sold to ICE.' This raises serious concerns about privacy violations.
