Minister Çiftçi: New Phase in Fight Against Armed Criminal Groups

Turkey's Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu announced a significant decrease in the number of armed attacks carried out by motorcycles, highlighting both the numerical and human impact of the reduction. Under the coordination of the Ministry, preventive security measures have led to a drop in the number of such incidents from 165 in the same period last year to 46 this year. The number of fatalities decreased from 17 to 9, while injuries fell from 81 to 15. Minister Çiftçi emphasized the ongoing struggle to eliminate the operational capacity of armed criminal groups, stating, 'We are targeting every link in the chain of crime, from the person who carries out the attack on a motorcycle to those who provide instructions, weapons, and shelter.' He noted that changing the method of attack will not allow criminal groups to evade security forces' tracking, and that Turkey will not tolerate threats to its security.

While markets may respond positively to this development, the reduction in the operational capacity of armed groups could also lead to more effective management of credit risks. According to Fibonacci adjustments and Ichimoku Cloud analysis, the BIST 100 index's short-term moving averages continue to show a positive trend. However, caution is advised in long-term trend analysis.
