Beijing's Liquidity Dilemma: Volatility and Mixed Close in Chinese Equities

In Asian markets, which have become the epicenter of global risk appetite, Chinese equities concluded a critical trading session with mixed results amidst high volatility driven by macroeconomic uncertainties and stimulus expectations. As investors focused on potential fiscal measures from Beijing, the search for direction led to a rigorous testing of key technical levels.
The Stimulus Illusion and Consolidation in Benchmark Indices
Mainland China's benchmark Shanghai Composite index managed to close flat-to-positive after sharp intraday swings, while the tech-heavy Shenzhen Component and growth-oriented ChiNext indices faced profit-taking. Investors continue to question the real-economy transmission of the easing steps taken by the People's Bank of China (PBOC).
Global Liquidity Rotation and the Asia-Pacific Balance
Upward pressure on US Treasury yields and a robust dollar index (DXY) continue to trigger capital outflows from emerging markets, directly impacting the sentiment across other developing bourses. The liquidity squeeze in the region is limiting the multiplier effect of local stimulus packages.
This indecisiveness in Chinese capital flows exerts an indirect technical pressure on the BIST 100 index as well. The volatility in Chinese equities within the EM basket indicates that the Senkou Span B resistance of the Ichimoku cloud has not been breached, signaling weakening momentum. From a technical perspective, the Shanghai Composite finds critical support at 3,150, which aligns with the Fibonacci 61.8% retracement level. A breakdown below this level could trigger algorithmic sell models, shifting the global risk-on/off balance to "off." For Turkish assets, however, this could present a relative defensive decoupling opportunity.
