Ireland's government has unveiled a comprehensive anti-money laundering (AML) strategy aimed at ensuring the legal use of digital assets. The strategy includes stricter controls on transfers from private crypto wallets and overseas digital asset companies. Ireland is advancing legislation to implement AML/CFT rules under the EU's MiCA framework and plans to establish industry standards, including classifying crypto activities as potential gambling funds, by the second half of 2027. This initiative reflects Ireland's efforts to mitigate risks associated with crypto money laundering and terrorism financing, strengthening the country's regulatory framework for digital assets.
