Alphabet's (GOOGL) AI Investment: What Risks Does It Face in 2026?
Alphabet (GOOGL) son çeyrekte AI yatırımlarına 1.2 milyar dolar daha ekleyerek toplam AI bütçesini 5 milyara çıkardı. Şirket, bu harcamanın Google Clo
Alphabet (GOOGL) added another $1.2 billion to its AI investments in Q2, bringing its total AI budget to $5 billion. The company stated that the spending is aimed at enhancing its AI model development capabilities through the integration of Google Cloud and Google DeepMind. Brown Advisory Global Leaders Strategy listed GOOGL as one of the top 40 most popular stocks heading into 2026. However, the fund's Q2 performance of 4.6% lagged behind the MSCI ACWI Net Index's 14.9%. This underperformance was attributed to underweighting in semiconductors and overweighting in software/cloud services. GOOGL traded between $196.60 and $408.61 over the past 52 weeks, closing at $357.75 on August 7, 2026. The company's $4.33 trillion market cap positions it as a global technology leader. GOOGL's AI investments are built on a full-stack strategy across search, cloud, and model infrastructure. Its $10 billion equity raise in June is aimed at expanding AI capabilities. Brown Advisory describes GOOGL as 'currently one of the most undervalued AI stocks' while its team highlights potential benefits from Trump-era tariff policies.
Market concerns over AI investment returns are amplified by GOOGL's underweighting in semiconductors. The intensifying competition in cloud and software sectors also poses risks to the company's growth ambitions.
