Isparta Rose Harvest: The Golden Season of 17,000 Tons
The rose harvest in Isparta and its surrounding regions this year marked one of the most productive seasons in the past decade. İbrahim Işıdan, General Manager of the Gül, Gül Yağı ve Yağlı Tohumlar Tarım Satış Kooperatifleri Birliği (GÜLBİRLİK), stated that yield per decare significantly increased compared to previous years, with a total of 17,000 tons of rose petals harvested. A base price of 80 lira per kilogram was announced at the start of the season, with most payments already completed through cooperatives and remaining amounts expected to be settled in the coming week. The target price for rose oil, which sold at 12,000 euros per kilogram last year, remains unchanged for the 2026-2027 period. Harvested products will serve as raw materials for the perfumery and cosmetics industry, while additional payments to producers remain contingent on the success of the marketing process. The board continues to evaluate performance-based incentives to boost sectoral returns.
This productivity surge reinforces Isparta’s global competitiveness in aromatic crops. Stable rose oil pricing offers financial certainty to producers while high-value exports gain momentum. However, volatility in synthetic alternatives could dampen demand for natural extracts in the short term. With the Central Bank’s inflation targets in focus, agricultural commodities’ resilience against currency fluctuations will be pivotal in the upcoming cycle.
