Blanche’s DOJ Nomination Halted by Two GOP Senators Over IRS Settlement

Todd Blanche’s nomination as U.S. Attorney General has been delayed due to pushback from two Republican senators over his role in the controversial Trump-IRS settlement. Iowa Sen. Chuck Grassley, Texas Sen. John Cornyn, and North Carolina Sen. Thom Tillis demanded 'written assurances' regarding the settlement, leading to a postponement of the committee meeting. Cornyn accused the DOJ of refusing to modify the settlement, which grants Trump’s family broad IRS immunity, and of rejecting requests to scrap the $1.776 billion 'anti-weaponization' fund.
