Final Deadline for Second Tax Installments: Key Considerations for Payments

Turkey's deadline for paying the second installments of the 2026 Special Consumption Tax (MTV) and income tax for 2025 earnings is approaching. The General Directorate of Tax Administration (GİB) announcement details that payments can be made through the Digital Tax Office, GİB Mobile App, or PTT branches.

■Taxpayers can complete payments without a password by entering their ID number, vehicle plate, or registration document date.

■Internet payments are advised to use 'gib.gov.tr' or direct bank websites for security.

■Foreign bank cards and accounts are also eligible payment methods. This announcement underscores the urgency for taxpayers to finalize payments by the deadline. Markets are speculating that this could boost tax collection, potentially reducing government borrowing and benefiting financial markets. However, the rush for payments may also increase bank credit demand.
