Turkey's Hibrid and Electric Vehicle Market Surges as Diesel and LPG Decline

Turkey's registered vehicle count rose by 6.7% year-on-year to 34.545 million in June 2026, with 51.7% of the total being cars. Hibrid vehicles saw a dramatic increase from 33,690 in 2020 to 846,813 in June 2026, rising from 0.3% to 4.7% of the total car market. Electric vehicles, meanwhile, surged from 2,797 in 2020 to 445,939 in June 2026, increasing their share from 0.1% to 2.5%. Meanwhile, gasoline cars saw their share jump to 31%, outpacing diesel and LPG. This shift reflects Turkey's growing investment in electric vehicles and sustainable mobility policies.

The rapid expansion of Turkey's electric vehicle market is boosting both local manufacturers and international brands, potentially accelerating the decline of gasoline-powered cars in the long term.
