BIST 100 Falls 1.55%: Tech Index Loses 4.68%

BIST 100 index closed at 13,292.93 points, a 1.55% decline from the previous close.

The index opened at 13,484.54 points, dipped to a low of 13,223.69, and peaked at 13,489.13. The initial 0.13% drop turned into a 1.55% decline by market close.
Tech and Industry Index Slumps
The Tech Index fell 4.68%, the largest drop, while the Industry Index lost 0.64%. The Services Index slipped 0.90%, and the Financial Index declined 0.65%.
Stock Performance Divergence
Out of the 99 constituents, 36 stocks gained, while 63 fell. The most actively traded shares were Turkish Airlines, ASELSAN, Akbank, Yapi Kredi Bank, and Türkiye İş Bankası (C).
Gold’s Bright Surge
Spot gold traded at $4,087 per ounce on global markets. In Borsa Istanbul’s Gold Market, the standard kilogram price rose 1.1% to TL 6,190,000.
Bond Market’s Surprising Yield
The 15‑March‑2028 Treasury bond delivered a simple yield of 38.46% and a compounded yield of 42.16%.
Central Bank and Currency Rates
The Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey set the dollar’s effective rate at 47.2942 lira for purchase and 47.4838 for sale. The EUR/USD pair hovered at 1.1501, GBP/USD at 1.3424, and USD/JPY at 159.5.
Energy Prices Edge Down
London’s December Brent futures fell 1% to $87.30 per barrel.
