A $215 strike put option traded at $10.40 bid and $10.50 ask when Nvidia’s stock was at $212.26. This presented a buying or selling opportunity for traders. The put buyer profits if the stock declines, while the seller collects the premium but faces an obligation to buy at the strike. However, if the stock remains above expectations, the put buyer only loses the premium paid.
In the ongoing China-US chip war, long put strategies can be crucial for managing downside risk in tech stocks. This approach may help mitigate volatility in semiconductor firms like TSMC and ASML.
