TBMM Chairman Kurtulmuş: 'Terörsüz Türkiye' Law Excludes PKK's Top Leaders

Turkish Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş has clarified that the 'Terörsüz Türkiye' (Terror-Free Turkey) Law is exclusively designed for PKK, PYD, and KCK, and that the organization's top leaders (Öcalan, Konar, Yıldırım, Aktaş, Yamalak, Atabey, Bayhan) will not be able to benefit from it. Kurtulmuş described the law as a temporary measure and announced a 6-month period during which the organization's surrender process will be evaluated. The law also includes three safeguards: approval from the National Security Council, review by the Council of Ministers, and oversight by a parliamentary commission. Kurtulmuş emphasized that the PKK has entered a new phase following the İmralı statement and has decided to end its armed struggle. He praised Turkey's role as a model in the region, thanking President Erdoğan and political leaders for their support. Additionally, he stated that efforts will be made to prevent Kurdish citizens from engaging in armed resistance. Kurtulmuş stressed that the law is not about a party or government but about Turkey's struggle for freedom from terrorism, which he believes will also impact regional terrorism.

The law is seen as a significant step for Turkey to strengthen its economic and political power, ensuring regional stability. Markets may respond positively to this development, but the implementation process must be closely monitored.
