Türkiye's leading export credit and receivables insurer, Türk Eximbank, is gearing up to provide $59 billion in financial support to exporters on the occasion of its 39th anniversary. Founded in 1987 with a capital of 500,000 lira, the bank has grown from an initial $13.1 billion in exports to $401 billion today, shipping goods and services to all corners of the world. With its own funds reaching 202 billion lira, the bank has expanded its network to 3 regional directorates, 25 branches, and 7 liaison offices, covering over 90% of Turkey's exports. The bank serves over 20,000 customers, with 83% being SMEs. Forty-seven percent of its export credits are allocated to high and medium-high technology products. Türk Eximbank is enhancing export financing through participation banking tools (murabaha, eser, icare, isticrar) and innovative insurance models (Participation-Based Receivables Insurance). It is also strengthening international collaborations to boost green transformation and supplier financing.
Markets are likely to see export growth as a result of this support, but other financial factors like credit card limits and bank interest rates will also need to be monitored. This support could be a critical step in boosting Türkiye's competitiveness on the global stage.
