Turkey's Vehicle Inspection Data: 7.9 Million Vehicles and Traffic Safety Concerns
Turkey's first half of the year saw 7,890,520 vehicles undergo inspection across 320 stations. Of these, 72.5% (5,804,466 vehicles) were deemed lightly flawed, 20.6% (1,621,777 vehicles) heavily flawed, and 0.9% (71,362 vehicles) unsafe. The remaining 2.3% (393,335 vehicles) were flawless. Common issues identified during inspections included brake systems, lights, seatbelts, and fuel systems. Transportation Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu emphasized that technical flaws in vehicles account for 20% of traffic accidents. The ministry aims to prevent 100,000 traffic accidents annually using these data. Additionally, technological advancements are being implemented to make the inspection process more efficient. These figures highlight Turkey's efforts to enhance traffic safety standards and reduce carbon emissions.
