Hyundai Motor has transformed its İzmit plant into a strategic hub for European electric vehicle production, launching the IONIQ 3's serial production. The facility, developed with a $1.7 billion investment, boasts a 200,000-unit annual capacity and exports 85% to Europe. A 30,000 sqm battery plant, equipped with 27 robots and employing 300 people, is now operational. Xavier Martinet, Europe CEO, emphasized Turkey's critical role in the company's strategy. "When a market issue arises, we suffer far less than our competitors." He noted. As Fatih Kılıç, I highlight how this investment directly ties to Hyundai's EV strategy and Turkey's growing importance in the market. The flexible production model is key to expanding market share, he stressed.
