Antalya COP31 Era: Mapping the Green Route for Global Capital
Türkiye, 196 ülkenin ortak kararıyla **COP31** ev sahipliğini üstlenerek, iklim diplomasisinde tarihi bir adım atarken, bu süreçten doğacak "Yeşil San

Securing the hosting of COP31 through a unanimous decision of 196 countries, Turkey prepares to present the "Green Industrialization" and financing opportunities arising from this process to the world at the Antalya EXPO area, marking a historic step in climate diplomacy. With the approval of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Minister Kurum, who assumed the Presidency, aims to translate global commitments into investment with the "Implementation COP" target. The 36 international contacts and visits made to date demonstrate that Turkey is positioning itself not just as an environmental but also as an economic hub.
Diplomatic and Financial Roadmap to the Antalya Summit
The "COP31 Action Agenda" shared by Minister Kurum at the Bonn Climate Change Conference clarifies Turkey's strategic priorities by being announced months before the conference. This diplomatic traffic will continue through organizations such as the Istanbul Finance Summit and Trabzon Ocean Conference, strengthening contacts with global financial actors.
2035 Targets and Investment Portfolios
The COP31 Action Agenda includes concrete targets closely concerning the financial world:
"Implementation Bridge" for Climate Finance
Turkey will create investable project portfolios for investors through the "Climate Implementation Bridge Mechanism", which aims to accelerate the implementation of Nationally Determined Contributions. This mechanism aims to prepare a common ground for financing green transformation, especially during Pre-COP meetings and the UN General Assembly process.
Turkey hosting COP31 opens a massive door for "Green Lending" and "ESG Investment" for the banking and finance sector, beyond just an environmental responsibility. The investable projects highlighted via the "Climate Implementation Bridge" will trigger the growth of commercial loan volumes, especially in renewable energy and infrastructure. However, for these targets to materialize, market players are critically monitoring the expectation for macro-prudential measures to be relaxed for green finance and the Central Bank to accelerate sustainability-focused policy steps.
