Soma B Thermal Plant's Forced Sale: How Will TKİ Clear Its 20 Billion TL Debt?
Türkiye'nin en büyük özel termik santrallerinden biri olan Soma B Termik Santrali, Konya Şeker'in (TORKU) sahibi olduğu bir tesis, icra yoluyla satışa

One of Turkey's largest private thermal power plants, Soma B Thermal Plant owned by Konya Şeker (TORKU), is being sold via bankruptcy proceedings. The plant has a debt exceeding 20 billion TL to TKİ, stemming from coal invoices for electricity production. The Bankruptcy Court has valued the plant and its assets at 13.8 billion TL, with a 20% VAT to be added. The sale will proceed through a two-stage public auction: the first stage on September 7th, and a second stage on September 30th if no suitable bids are received. The proceeds from the sale will be fully transferred to TKİ to settle its debts. Sources report that some groups are preparing for the auction, and Akçadağ Mining and ODAŞ have also shown interest. This transaction highlights Turkey's debt resolution strategies in the energy sector and the private sector's demand for energy resources.
