Turkey Hosts Record-Breaking International Space Congress, Marking Strategic Leap in Global Aerospace Diplomacy
Turkey's hosting of the 77th International Space Congress has redefined its position in the global space ecosystem. The event, held in Antalya from October 5-9 under the coordination of the Ministry of Industry and Technology, in partnership with the Turkish Space Agency (TUA) and SAHA Istanbul, attracted over 10,000 international visitors. Early registrations exceeded 3,000 from 83 countries, with Turkey securing the top spot with 438 participants. The congress also broke previous records with 8,330 abstract submissions from 108 countries for IAC 2026. Turkey's leading 674 accepted papers further cemented its 'double record' achievement. The platform facilitated cutting-edge research showcases, academic presentations, and commercial partnerships, enhancing Turkey's visibility in the international space sector. This growing prominence could strengthen Turkey's competitiveness in future space technology races. Such events may serve as catalysts for foreign capital inflows into high-cost R&D projects.
