TEDAŞ and ISSA Strengthen Safety Culture in Electricity Distribution Sector
TEDAŞ, in collaboration with ISSA, advanced a joint framework for enhancing workplace safety and health culture in the electricity distribution sector through a symposium held under the auspices of Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar. The event brought together German accident insurance experts, Vision Zero leaders, and senior executives from 21 electricity distribution companies, addressing topics such as risk management, digital media's role in safety, AI applications, and global Vision Zero case studies.
TEDAŞ General Manager Ömer Sami Yapıcı emphasized the strategic risks inherent in electricity distribution, stating that workplace safety is not merely a legal obligation but a reflection of societal values. He highlighted annual training programs reaching 8,000 professionals, incorporating digital workshops and virtual reality technologies to elevate safety standards. ISSA President Jens Juhling praised Turkey's dynamic energy sector, linking the initiative to the '7 Golden Rules' of Vision Zero—leadership, hazard identification, goal-setting, system design, technology integration, employee empowerment, and human-centered approaches.
Elder Secretary General Fakir Hüseyin Erdoğan underscored safety as an investment rather than a cost, noting its direct impact on operational performance and service quality. The symposium concluded with commitments to proactive risk management, enhanced employee participation, and cross-border knowledge exchange.
