Waymo's Innovative Ojai Robotaxi: Echoes of the China-US Chip War
Alphabet'in Waymo şubesi, Los Angeles, Phoenix ve San Francisco'da tüm yolculara açık olarak yeni nesil Ojai robotaksisini sunmaya başladı. Bu, şirket

Alphabet's Waymo division has launched its next-generation Ojai robotaxi to all riders in Los Angeles, Phoenix, and San Francisco, marking a significant expansion in its fleet with cheaper, more cost-effective vehicles. The Ojai, built on Zeekr's minivan platform owned by China's Geely Holding Group, is equipped with Waymo's sixth-generation self-driving technology. The company plans to roll out the Ojai in Denver, Las Vegas, and San Diego later this year. According to MoffettNathanson, Waymo aims to bring 5,000 Ojai robotaxis to the U.S. by the end of 2026. Import tariffs on Chinese-made vehicles are adding to operational costs, reflecting the broader China-U.S. chip competition. This development could influence tech stocks like Nvidia and TSMC, as well as the global semiconductor supply chain. Waymo's growth strategy intersects with the semiconductor shortage and rising demand for ASML equipment.
The China-U.S. chip war has spilled over into the automotive sector. Waymo's partnership with Zeekr could be seen as part of China's push for technology self-sufficiency. Such collaborations may lead to increased competition and strategic moves in future chip supply chains.
