YKS Results and University Quotas: Impact on Higher Education Policies

The ÖSYM will announce the results of the YKS exam conducted on June 20-21. Alongside the Higher Education Programs and Quota Guide, the guide will also include universities' minimum and maximum score ranges from last year, selection procedures, and accreditation information. The success order requirement, which was applied in some programs last year, is expected to continue this year. To qualify for medical programs, a minimum of 50,000th place in numerical score was required. For law programs, the success order was 100,000, while for teacher training programs, it was 300,000. This year, the success order requirement for dentistry was 80,000, for pharmacy and law was 100,000, for architecture was 250,000, and for engineering and teacher training was 300,000. Preferences will be made through the ÖSYM's Candidate Processing System, and candidates will be able to make changes to their lists during the selection process.
The YKS results, particularly the distribution of university quotas, may signal significant policy changes in higher education. ÖSYM's transparency in this guide could positively influence the dynamics of the education market in the coming years, especially for high-demand programs where the selection process can operate more smoothly.
