Alphabet Stock Targets $515: AI Investments and Ad Growth Strengthening the Bull Case

Alphabet (GOOG/GOOGL) shares have pulled back from their 52-week high by roughly 16%. However, at least one analyst has set a $515 price target for the stock, representing roughly 50% upside from the recent closing price of $343.54. The company's heavy investments in AI, cloud infrastructure, and computing capacity pose a key challenge to the bull case, potentially pressuring near-term free cash flow and margins. Despite these concerns, Alphabet's ad revenue grew by 14% in Q2, with growth across all major ad categories. Google Search and other ad revenue reached $63.3 billion, while YouTube ad revenue hit $11.1 billion. AI is enhancing the search experience, increasing user engagement and search activity, which creates more opportunities for Alphabet to serve ads. The company is accelerating the deployment of Gemini across its entire ad infrastructure to boost performance, offering advertisers better AI-driven tools that can lead to stronger returns on ad spend. With AI continuing to improve the search experience and deliver better outcomes for advertisers, Alphabet is likely to maintain strong ad growth even as year-over-year (YoY) comparisons become more challenging.
While concerns about Alphabet's AI investment costs persist, the strategy is strengthening its core advertising business. The company's ad revenue growth and AI's impact on user engagement support the potential for the stock to reach $515 in the long term.
