Spur Raises $200M, Sets New Standard in Bot Detection Technology

Spur Intelligence, a Florida-based cybersecurity startup, has secured $200 million in funding led by Insight Partners. Founded in 2017—five years before ChatGPT's public launch—by two former Defense Department engineers, the company's technology helps enterprises distinguish legitimate human users from increasingly sophisticated bot traffic.

■Thomas Krane of Insight Partners noted, 'As sophisticated criminal VPNs, residential proxy networks, and anonymization infrastructure proliferate, organizations are operating with a critical blind spot: they can see the activity, but not the infrastructure behind it.' - Cloudflare's latest traffic report revealed that as of mid-2026, bot traffic has surpassed human traffic for the first time in Internet history. Matthew Prince, CEO of Cloudflare, stated, 'We thought it would be the end of 2027, then early 2027, but agentic traffic is growing so fast that bots have now passed human traffic online.' These developments underscore the urgent need for organizations to enhance their defenses against escalating bot threats.
