Florida Redirects EV Charger Funds to Air Taxi Infrastructure Project
Florida, federal olarak tahsis edilen 200 milyon doların elektrikli araç şarj istasyonları yerine elektrikli dikey iniş-çıkış (eVTOL) uçak pisti proje

Florida has decided to reallocate nearly $200 million in federal funding intended for electric vehicle charging infrastructure to build an electric air taxi network. Despite being the state with the most EVs in the U.S., Florida lags behind the national average in chargers per vehicle. The state has not spent the funds, citing private sector success in building charging networks. Instead, the Florida Department of Transportation plans to use the money for 32 landing pads and charging stations for eVTOLs, which can carry 4-5 passengers. The state hopes the small aircraft will alleviate traffic congestion. The NEVI program, under updated guidance from the Trump administration, allows states with 'fully built out' EV charging corridors to reallocate funds for 'EV charging infrastructure on any public road or in other publicly accessible locations.' New York and North Carolina have used the funding for community chargers. Florida's plan includes landing pads and chargers at golf courses, luxury apartments, and airports.
The global air mobility sector is gaining importance in supply chains. Florida's strategic investment in eVTOLs reflects this trend. However, the success of these projects hinges on the commercial viability of eVTOLs, which remain in a nascent stage. Markets will watch how such innovations reshape the future of transportation infrastructure.
