France Ramps Up Telemarketing Fines: Companies Face Up to $87,000 Per Call
Fransa, tüketicileri rahatsız eden istenmeyen telemarketing çağrılarına son vermek için yeni bir yasayı yürürlüğe koydu. Yasaya göre, önceden izin alı

France has introduced a new law targeting unsolicited telemarketing calls, imposing fines of up to 75,000 euros ($87,000) per illegal call and 375,000 euros ($435,000) for companies. The measure, which entered into force Tuesday, follows years of consumer complaints, with authorities estimating that three-quarters of French residents receive at least one unwanted sales call weekly. The new 'opt-in' system requires prior consent, which can be withdrawn at any time. Morocco's employment minister, Younes Sekkouri, warned that 50,000 jobs could be at risk as France's telemarketing industry, which generates over $1 billion annually, faces disruption. While the sector has diversified beyond traditional call centers, Morocco's reliance on French-speaking labor and low-cost operations makes it a critical outsourcing hub. Germany and the Netherlands have implemented similar bans, signaling a global shift in consumer protection.
The new law reshapes the global telemarketing landscape, with Morocco's job market at risk of significant disruption. This marks a pivotal moment in the restructuring of international labor markets.
