U.S. LNG Dominance Pushes European Gas Prices Triple
ABD'nin LNG ihracatındaki hakimiyeti, Avrupa doğal gaz fiyatlarını tarihi bir seviyeye taşıdı. ## ABD'nin LNG Pazarındaki Yükselişi Polous, *Indo‑Pa
U.S. dominance in LNG exports has propelled European natural gas prices to historic highs.
The Surge of U.S. LNG in the Global Market
At the Indo‑Pacific LNG Summit 2026 panel, Polous highlighted that 60% of Europe's LNG imports now originate from the United States, with Germany's share exceeding 90%. This shift underscores the U.S.'s strategic foothold as reliance on Russian gas wanes.
Triple‑Fold Rise in European Gas Prices
Polous warned that prices are now three times higher than during the era of substantial Russian gas deliveries. In 2025, Europe received 18 billion cubic meters of natural gas, a mere 9% of the 201.7 billion cubic meters shipped in 2021.
Strategic Strait and Canal Vulnerabilities
LNG shipments face disruption risks at critical chokepoints such as Hormuz, Malacca, Bab el‑Mandeb, and the Panama Canal. Polous noted that any interruptions at these passages could intensify price volatility.
Market Dynamics and Outlook
Markets will scrutinize the sustainability of U.S. LNG dominance while geopolitical and infrastructure risks shape price trajectories. In the short term, price pressure is likely to persist, but diversified supply chains and renewable energy investments could temper volatility over the longer horizon.
