Google Introduces 'Preferred Sources' Button to Help Publishers Combat AI Traffic Losses
Google, AI tabanlı arama özelliklerinin yayımcı web sitelerine yaptığı zararı telafi etmek amacıyla, kullanıcıların tercih ettikleri kaynakları vurgul

Google has introduced a new 'Preferred Sources' button to help publishers combat the traffic losses caused by AI-driven search features. The interactive tool allows users to mark their favorite sources, which Google will then highlight more frequently across Search, Discover, and Google News. The feature, which was previously available in Top Stories, is now being embedded on publishers' websites. Google reported that over 345,000 unique sources have already been selected through this method since its May launch. The company claims that users are twice as likely to click through to a preferred source when available. Additionally, Google is rolling out a new feature that allows users to customize their Discover feed in the Google app using natural language commands. Android users will also be able to personalize their audio daily briefings in the Google News app. Google notes that this move is part of a broader trend where social media platforms are offering AI-powered feed-tuning tools to users.
Google's strategy reflects a broader effort to mitigate the impact of AI on publisher traffic. By prioritizing trusted sources, Google aims to improve content quality while helping publishers retain their audience. The widespread adoption of these features could further solidify Google's dominance in search algorithms.
