Eurozone Banks: Credit Standards Tightening, Corporate Demand Declining
Euro Bölgesi bankaları, 2026'nın ikinci çeyreğinde işletmelere yönelik kredi standartlarını %7 oranında daraltırken, işletme talebinde de %3 artış kay

Eurozone banks reported a net tightening of credit standards for enterprise loans by 7% in Q2 2026, while corporate demand saw a net 3% increase. The tightening reflects rising risk perceptions and geopolitical tensions. Banks tightened lending conditions for businesses while supporting liquidity needs. In Q3 2026, banks expect further tightening across all credit categories. Household loans and consumer credit standards tightened by 9% and 12%, respectively. Housing loan demand fell by 15%, driven by declining consumer confidence and rising interest rates. Consumer credit demand softened by 2%, below banks' earlier expectations. Banks faced slight deterioration in short- and long-term funding access, though securitizations remained stable. For Q2 2026, banks anticipate further tightening in most sectors, with green firms seeing easing and high-emission firms facing stricter terms. Energy-efficient buildings saw improved credit access, while low-performance properties faced tightening.
The eurozone banks' moves reflect growing global economic uncertainty and liquidity strains. Rising geopolitical risks and energy price volatility have forced banks to tighten lending standards, particularly in manufacturing sectors exposed to energy and geopolitical shocks. This aligns with broader trends of risk aversion in the financial system.
