Del Monte Farm in Kenya Faces Continued Killings Amid G4S Security Allegations

The ongoing killings at Del Monte’s pineapple farm in Kenya’s Murang’a county have raised serious concerns after the company outsourced its security to G4S. Over the past year, three individuals have been killed in incidents allegedly involving G4S guards. Stephen Marubu Kibandi, 34, was shot in the chest by a police officer working with G4S guards on August 12, 2025, after he raised his hands in surrender. His brother, Haron Kame Kibandi, 27, died on April 20, 2026, after allegedly being struck by stones thrown by G4S guards and falling from a motorbike. Michael Muiruri, 31, was killed on August 8, 2025, when a G4S pickup truck struck his motorbike. The farm, covering at least 40 square kilometers, is Kenya’s largest exporter of produce, worth over $100 million annually. The average monthly salary in the region is around $380. G4S denies any wrongdoing.

The allegations highlight systemic issues in Del Monte’s security practices, raising concerns for worker rights and investor confidence. Local politicians have called for an independent investigation.
