Lucid's Operational Reset: Losses Deepen as Saudi Capital Provides Lifeline
Lüks elektrikli araç üreticisi Lucid, ikinci çeyrek sonuçlarıyla gelir beklentilerini aşmayı başarsa da, beklenenden çok daha büyük zararlar açıkladı

Luxury electric vehicle maker Lucid beat revenue expectations in its second quarter results but reported wider-than-anticipated losses, unveiling an "operational reset" aimed at slashing cash burn and stabilizing the business following recent rumors of potential bankruptcy.
Revenue Beats Expectations, but Bottom Line Bleeds
According to Bloomberg consensus data, the company's second-quarter revenue rose 56% year over year to $405 million, slightly surpassing analyst expectations of $395.6 million. However, the profitability picture remained bleak; the adjusted loss per share came in at $2.78 (vs. expectations of $2.37), while adjusted EBITDA showed a loss of $901.1 million, significantly missing the estimated loss of $681 million.
Strategic Pivot: The $1.4 Billion Cash Flow Plan
CEO Silvio Napoli stated that "potential is not performance," announcing a shift in strategy focused intensely on cash, customers, and culture. At the center of this three-pronged improvement plan is a target to generate $1.4 billion in cash-flow improvements by 2026. The breakdown of this target is as follows:
As part of these measures, the workforce reduction announced in June is expected to generate annualized savings of $158 million. Lucid also identified four "must-win" projects: the cost plan, the robotaxi program with Uber and Nuro, the AMP-2 factory in Saudi Arabia, and a forthcoming midsize vehicle.
Liquidity Lifeline and Saudi Backing
The company navigated a turbulent period last month, forced to send a cease-and-desist letter regarding reports of its preparation for bankruptcy. Amidst this uncertainty, a critical development occurred; Prince Alwaleed bin Talal's Kingdom Holding Company provided a fresh capital injection in late July, acquiring a roughly 5% stake equivalent to 19.5 million shares. While Lucid ended the quarter with total liquidity of $3 billion, cash and cash equivalents fell to $732.6 million, well below analyst expectations of $1.86 billion. Management asserts that the secured financing, combined with new operational measures, will provide sufficient runway well into 2027.In this macro-economic environment where risk appetite has diminished and the cost of capital has risen, Lucid's situation presents a critical test of cash management. While the strategic support from Saudi capital acts as a backstop, momentarily delaying bankruptcy scenarios, capital-intensive projects like the AMP-2 factory will continue to exert pressure on the balance sheet unless operational efficiency is achieved. The sharp decline in share price indicates that the market remains skeptical of this "reset" narrative and will stay cautious until tangible cash preservation measures are observed.
