Benioff's AI Paradox: Championing Engineers While Backing Automation That Cuts Thousands
Silikon Vadisi'nin en üst düzey yöneticileri, yapay zekanın küresel işgücü piyasasına etkisi konusunda giderek derinleşen bir paradoksun tam ortasında

Top executives in Silicon Valley are increasingly caught in a deepening paradox regarding AI's impact on the global labor market. While tech giants publicly promote the message that "AI will augment, not replace humans," capital flows are moving in the opposite direction—towards startups where autonomous systems are directly substituting human labor. This situation has become one of the most critical factors determining market dynamics and equity values.
The Fracture Between Investor Rhetoric and Automation Reality
Salesforce founder and CEO Marc Benioff presents the most concrete example of this dilemma within the tech world. Although Benioff recently argued to The Wall Street Journal that claims of AI replacing software giants and crashing their stocks are "dead wrong," his investment portfolio tells a different story. June AI, founded in 2025 by Efrat Rapoport, Ohad Hen, Barak Goldstein, and Idan Tsitiat, constitutes the financial leg of Benioff's contradictory stance.
Support Staff Reduction and the Agentforce Effect
Benioff's public stance that "software engineers are safe" contrasts sharply with the company's internal dynamics. While Salesforce maintains its $162 billion market cap through cloud-based CRM software, it is executing a radical efficiency drive in its internal operations. The company's stock has slid 25.4% year-to-date but has rebounded by over 15% in the past month. This rally is largely attributed to the company's ambitious Agentforce platform.
Markets are viewing this not merely as job loss but as an operational cost advantage and margin improvement. However, from my supply chain perspective, these personnel reductions represent not just "savings," but a massive transfer to "computational intensity." Are the AI agents replacing 4,000 support staff running on Salesforce's own servers or on AWS, Google Cloud, and Azure? This is a variable that will directly impact cloud infrastructure spending and consequently the order books of chip giants like Nvidia and AMD. Benioff's decimation of the support team via "Agentforce" is compelling evidence that human capital is being converted into silicon capital (GPU/HBM).
